Abington Canal
Revised 3/14/2021

During the mid to late 1700s, a series of canals were built in the English countryside to transport goods from the farms and rural areas to the ports. Meandering through the hilly terrain required the use of horses to pull the slender boats through the system of locks. Along the way there would be farms, windmills, taverns, and Lock Keepers. Department 56 introduced this subseries to give a nod to this mode of transportation and to accentuate the rural farm designs it had offered.
