| Department 56 and the Original Snow Village began with the release of six very distinct lit buildings in 1976. The craftsmanship of these early releases was not as polished as we have come to know. They were packaged in brown cardboard boxes with blue writing. The “village craze” truly began with these buildings and with their subsequent retirement in 1979. Coordinating Accessories were not designed until 1979. | ||||||||||||||
